Welcome to Pound Ridge
Pound Ridge is a
town in
Westchester County,
New York that is rich in history. Settled in the early 1700's, Pound Ridge started as a dairy farming community, then quickly became known for hat and shoe making, but it's most famous industry was basket making. In fact, it was referred to as "Basket Town" as many of the baskets were used by local fisherman on Long Island.
While Pound Ridge may seem a bit more country than its neighboring towns, residents like it that way. Homes here tend to sit on 2-3 acre lots surrounded by nature and offering tons of privacy, which is why several celebrities have homes here. If you enjoy the outdoors, there is no better place to explore. With 19-nature preserves including The Ward Pound Ridge Reservation, there is no shortage of places to hike.
Scott's Corner, which is Pound Ridge's commercial hub has amazing shops, eateries and businesses and provides one-stop shopping for local residents. It also hosts a community event that residents love called "Food Truck Friday" which starts in May and goes through September. This foodie event takes place one Friday a month, and residents can get together, sample local food trucks and listen to live music.
When it comes to restaurants in Pound Ridge, the first to pop to mind is Jean George's The Inn at Pound Ridge. With upscale farm-to-table American food in a rustic chic restored antique home, not only is the food absolutely delicious but the venue is stunning. When The Inn at Pound Ridge opened in 2014, it quickly became a favorite not just among locals but also Westchester residents from all over. Another restaurant to highlight is North Star, which offers amazing food in a low-key warm and cozy setting.
The local school is the Pound Ridge Elementary School, one of five K-5 schools in the
Bedford Central School District. Older children take the bus to the Fox Lane Campus in Bedford, where the middle and high schools are located.
